![]() ![]() Part 2: Transfer Text Messages from Blackbery to Computer (Android OS).Part 1: Backup Blackberry SMS with Desktop Manager (Blackberry OS).The first tool we have outlined below is one such. Unfortunately, a lot of utilities for Blackberry OS are outdated or discontinued, but there are still some that may work. so here comes the question: how do you transfer text messages from Blackberry phone to a PC for backup? There are several different ways to do this depending on whether the device is running Blackberry OS or Android OS. So it is vital to keep a copy of the important content stored on the device. That and the limited password options makes me leery of using this app, not that I'm some high security target.Blackberry smartphone is still one of the best options for business man. This is how a lot of hacking is done, measuring the program loops for checking entered password vs stored password. The program is sitting in a loop comparing the last character to expected and would be something to monitor to figure out the password entered. It surprised the hell out of me when I found this limitation and that it wasn't mentioned before almost 4 months ago when I complained of a problem with generated password.Īlso, I still think logging into the app as soon as the last character of the password is entered instead of waiting for the Continue button to be pressed is potential hacking vector. I guess with 32 characters you can claim strong password, but using only hex characters, I'm not aware of anything else that calls that strong password in 2015. Instead of 15^32, it could be at least 62^32 or higher. You are giving up a lot of entropy by leaving out 20 alphabet characters and 26 more if you ignore case sensitivity let alone the whole extended ASCII set, which is pretty common to include in 2015. It would also be good to know if the alpha characters are treated as case-sensitive, since the auto-generated ones only do numbers and lowercase a-f. It needs to mention that the password has to be exactly 32 hex characters. Please change your strong password information box to properly reflect the acceptable input. Whether it was non-hexidecimal, or whether it was too short or too long, are all very easy sanity checks that should be implemented for the most important thing, the password. Error message should be specific about what part of the password failed. Reality: Only hex characters are accepted (0-9, a-f). Description inaccurate.Īpp: Gives error when providing your own "secure" password with much more entropy than the generated one Reality: Only 32 character passwords are accepted. Runisoft TeamApp: "Smaller length passwords are unsafe and may not work". (The option could be seen from the settings page. Please swipe down from the top bezel to access settings page.) Please let us know if you have turned on the encryption. The current method might be purposefully done due to file size limitations or perhaps to minimize restore times but I'd prefer, if it is possible to do, an option to append to an existing backup file prior to it's start as long as a file comparison could be accomplished in order to reject duplicate items. ![]() This means that over time there will be many backup files that will need to be individually restored unless one has a system of taking a current backup and deleting the previous on a routine basis and of course remembering to restore the most current backup following a device reset. Unless I am mistaken another issue is the app's inability to append new SMS and MMS messages to an existing backup. Thankfully the conversation wasn't important. ![]() The only problem I see is that the restore overwrote a "conversation" I was having just moments prior from one of the contact's whose prior messages were included in the restore file instead of appending to it. The backup file was small as I had only recently returned to the phone for use on a new T-Mobile account, and the restore even returned the one MMS message that had been backed up. After factory resetting my Z10 I reinstalled the app and then restored the single backup I made prior to the reset. ![]()
